About This Place

Located on the bustling N Silverbell Rd in Tucson, Growler's Taphouse is a standout in the Bar & Grill and Takeout restaurant scene, delivering a vibrant fusion of flavors in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re searching for a destination that pairs carefully crafted drinks with mouthwatering comfort food, this is your go-to spot.

The menu at Growler's Taphouse is a celebration of bold, inventive tastes with a southwestern twist. Start your culinary journey with crowd-favorite appetizers like their crispy, tangy Fried Pickles or the irresistible Prohibition Pretzels paired with silky Ranch Dressing. Their lineup of burgers and sandwiches, affectionately dubbed "The Loot," features gems such as the Gentleman Jack, boasting Pepper Jack cheese, beer-battered jalapeño slices, and habanero aioli that delivers a perfect smoky heat; or the Bucket Boy, a daring blend of habanero and chipotle aioli, melted swiss and pepper jack cheeses, crispy bacon, and fresh jalapeños—all served alongside perfectly golden fries or slaw. Upgrade your side to their house-made onion rings for a small extra charge, and you’re in for a decadent treat.

For lighter fare, the Chopper Squad salads offer a fresh reprieve, like the Capone Caprese with its ripe tomatoes and creamy mozzarella drizzled with balsamic reduction and fresh basil—pure freshness on a plate. The Green Hat salad layers grilled chicken atop romaine, cucumbers, and avocado, all tied together with a lively cilantro lime dressing that’s as invigorating as Tucson’s sunny skies.

If you’re craving more substantial dishes, dive into their “Bootleggers” entrees, particularly The Goods: three hybrid flour and corn soft tacos filled with tender chicken, house hatch green chili, a three-cheese blend, and zesty slaw, topped with sour cream and chipotle mayo. Served with pinto beans and salsa on the side, this dish sings with careful balance and smoky depth. The Big House Nachos take things to another level with fresh corn chips piled high with smoked pulled pork or green chili, beans, beer cheese, jalapeños, and a cool dollop of sour cream.

Growler's Taphouse isn’t just about exceptional food—it’s a full sensory experience. The atmosphere buzzes with vibrant energy, amplified by a wall of wide-screen televisions perfect for catching all your favorite sports. The décor is rich with rustic charm accented by clever lighting and unique art pieces, including their heartfelt “Fallen Comrade Table,” a powerful display of patriotism that resonates deeply with many patrons.

Guests consistently praise the warm, attentive service here. Servers like Sam and Heather are often mentioned for their friendly demeanor and ability to balance attentiveness without hovering, making every visit feel personalized and relaxed. And if you’re a beer lover, the $2.51 drafts and expertly curated beer flights are the icing on the cake, perfectly complementing the bold flavors on your plate.

From regulars who’ve made Growler’s their neighborhood staple to first-timers impressed by the flavorful, quick-to-arrive dishes, the consensus is clear: Growler's Taphouse delivers an authentic, spirited dining experience that satisfies both your taste buds and your soul. Whether you’re grabbing a casual takeout or settling in for an evening with friends, the combination of innovative burgers, tantalizing sides, and a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere make this establishment a treasured Tucson hotspot you’ll want to return to again and again.

Overly pleased with my entire experience. The beers we tried were super smooth and easily tied in with our meals. The food came out quickly and exceeded our expectations with the outstanding flavors. The one thing that stood out to me was their Fallen Comrade Table and their deepest expression for patriotism. ???????????????????????? Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone and will definitely be coming back.

I love this place!! We have been going for several years and have always been delighted! I always get the Izzy and Moe pork sliders and man they are so good! All their food comes on theses cool slabs of wood and really helps tie together into their beautifully decorated place. I love looking at all the pictures and the light fixtures are so clever. We have always gotten very nice service and it’s always nice and clean. The bathrooms are even cooler! They have the whole floor decorated with pennies! Definitely recommend!!

4.25.24 update: again did not disappoint! Sat outside and enjoyed the live music. Heather was our server and she was perfect. The perfect amount of attainable without being hovering, we very much appreciate that. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was super relaxing and we will most certainly be back again! First time here and was impressed. Met some family out of town and decided to try something new. We did an early dinner around 4:00 p.m., and there was only a handful of guests and the dining room. The ambiance was quiet and the staff was attentive and helpful. The food was really good and served on wooden planks. The atmosphere is unique in itself. The prices are more than reasonable! We will be back again.

I’ve been to Growlers a few times now, and each visit reminds me why I keep coming back — the food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s definitely a spot I enjoy supporting! That said, I do hope this is taken as helpful feedback — the music is really loud. This is the third time I’ve been, and it’s been noticeably loud each visit. It makes it a bit tough to relax and enjoy conversation, which is such a big part of the dining experience. I say this with all sincerity because I love this place — if the volume were turned down just a bit, it would be perfect. Looking forward to many more meals here!
